The mission of the St. Columba Compassion/Bereavement Ministry is to be a source of compassion, care, and support to those who are suffering due to serious illness and those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. The members work to reach out to them to ease such suffering through their presence, so the sufferers will feel the healing comfort of God through their faith community.
Ministry members are informed by the Parish Office and the Head of the Eucharistic Ministers of persons receiving Communionat home who have expressed a desire to receive visits from this ministry. Ministry members are present at the viewing and/or the funeral Mass, helping set up for the Mass, greeting and ushering the family and those who come to the church for the funeral liturgy. Ministers may also provide follow-up support through phone calls.
To join this important and spiritually rewarding ministry, please contact the parish office. Training will be provided..
